Trickster, that timeless mischief-maker, has been slipping in and out of cultures and history for centuries, taking different forms and disguises. This time, we find Trickster bone-sifting shape-shifting into the traditional Gospel story. Oh, how he loves a bit of mayhem! Trickster plants mischievous seeds wherever he goes, creates a stable uproar, twists words and teases taxmen. Of course, he thinks he will be the winner when commissioned by the Father to play against the Son. But Trickster doesn’t always get his own way…

This poetry-telling play, from a publication of the same name by Hercules Editions (2019), is an accessible way into poetry for all ages. It was originally directed by Tamar Saphra. A one-woman show of words and music, created and performed by Nancy Charley.
