The Trying Rooms is a dance theatre double bill, an eruption of words and movement, with two stories centred around trying to get something right – be that communication, a relationship, or just life itself.

The first piece, The Agony of Definition, is a tragicomedy that introduces Claybourne – Claybourne is sure he has something to tell you, but he cannot seem to remember what it is. Stuck in this Sisyphean nightmare, he embarks once again on the task of trying to remember, of trying to tell you – as he did the day before, and the day before that.

In the second piece, DAUGHTERED, creator and performer Kitty Pilgrim-Morris will be joined onstage by her mother in a piece that grapples with how a love so intense can be painful when it is misdirected. Change can feel violent, especially when it questions the very role of ‘mother’ – shouldn’t she be able to protect her child from all harm?
