“Guardian” by Integreat Theatre

A story of the history of Birmingham and the deaf community residing there. The Guardian, better known as the Bullring Bull, takes the audience on a journey of Birmingham through the ages, weaving in iconic places and personal stories of deaf people from the region and the isolation from the wider deaf community faced by many LGBT+ people; Windrush, and deaf people born to immigrants.

The Guardian is a story of the history of Birmingham and the deaf community residing there.

The Guardian, better known as the Bullring Bull, takes the audience on a journey of Birmingham through the ages, weaving in iconic places, such as Cadburys (we even provide a chocolate bar at the end of the show) and Sarehole Mill and personal stories of deaf people from the region; the well-known jeweller David Hyslop who worked on the world cup trophy and later established DeafPlus; the isolation from the wider Deaf community faced by many LGBT+ people; Windrush and the Handsworth riots told from the perspective of Deaf people born to immigrants.
