The Guardian is a story of the history of Birmingham and the deaf community residing there.
The Guardian, better known as the Bullring Bull, takes the audience on a journey of Birmingham through the ages, weaving in iconic places, such as Cadburys (we even provide a chocolate bar at the end of the show) and Sarehole Mill and personal stories of deaf people from the region; the well-known jeweller David Hyslop who worked on the world cup trophy and later established DeafPlus; the isolation from the wider Deaf community faced by many LGBT+ people; Windrush and the Handsworth riots told from the perspective of Deaf people born to immigrants.
