Pathos

“Pathos” is an evening of contemporary dance and physical theatre choreographed by critically acclaimed dance artist Johnny Autin.

“Autin’s choreography and delivery convey brutal strength, vulnerability and an admirable determination.” Jemma Wilson

Autin Dance Theatre is a professional dance theatre company based in the West Midlands and supported by mac birmingham. Through inventive and clever choreography, the company produces work that is accessible, poignant and beautifully crafted.

Performed by an international cast of dancers, Pathos features three pieces:

Chimera

The dancer becomes a symbolic and inspiring creature in this powerful, feminist and romantic solo performance inspired by the ancient Greek Muses.

Taksim Square

Drawing on the Arab Spring demonstrations and last year’s popular protests in Turkey and violent clashes with riot police in Istanbul, this gut wrenching piece reminds us of the harsh realities faced by people across the world. Johnny uses symbolic movements, patterns and a full-out body language to tell his story, building up an intense and powerful portrait of repression.

Out of Touch

A brand new work performed by world-class dancers exploring human touch and its physical and emotional resonance. Featuring contact work and hand-to-hand techniques, the work explores the intimacy and skin-to-skin contact present in our everyday social encounters.

Tickets £10.50 (£6.50 concessions). Includes booking fee.
