Tower Block Trio
“Towerblock Trio” combines three one act dramas by acclaimed writer Philip Ridley. Stage2 have been given special permission to rework these plays especially for their young company.

All set in East London, they use fairytales to reveal the inner feelings of the young characters.

Fairytaleheart: Gideon and Kirsty deal with ruptured families and homelessness by embracing their hopes and fears in a derelict community centre. They release their feelings through storytelling, as they enter the magic world of Karamazoo, searching for the ‘luminous butterfly’.

Sparkleshark: Jake tries to escape his bullies on the roof of the towerblock by writing fairytales. He is soon interrupted by Polly, who is followed not only by her friends, but by Jake’s enemies. In a frantic battle to impress the right girls and kiss the right boys their relationship realities become a roof-top fantasy. Can storytelling be Jake’s way out and a chance for all the kids to get along?

Moonfleece: Curtis, a young right-wing activist, arranges a meeting in the derelict towerblock where he grew up. However, things do not go as planned. For a start, there are two squatters now occupying the flat and one of them has a story to tell. A story that will change Curtis’s life forever.
