A Theatrical Poem Cycle by Lorna Meehan.
Directed by Zak Marsh.
“It’s mine now, the whole world of desire, reclaimed.”
An autobiographical solo show exploring the sublime and harrowing complexities of a long delayed sexual awakening with a hired lover.
In 2020, Lorna tackled her intimacy issues head on and booked an escort. Her first night with him changed her life, so she hired him again another five times over the course of a year.
These poems chart her game changing journey from awkward bravery to sexual empowerment through to inevitable heartbreak. Confessional, challenging, transcendent and relatable, this show is both a poetic autobiography and a bittersweet ‘how to guide’ for navigating first love in your forties when it has a looming shelf life.
Join Lorna and her lover for an intimate and ultimately optimistic exploration of desire.
Don’t be nervous, relax, we’re going to have a great time.
*Contains strong language and scenes of a sexual nature (recommended for 18+).
This is Lorna’s third solo show. (Brazen and NO ENTRY! also presented at previous Birmingham Fests).
Performances on Tuesday 18th & Wednesday 19th July at 7pm.
